Case of 4 bottles.
100% Tempranillo, from a single 0.39Ha plot that was planted in 1920, and the first vineyard purchased by Javier. It sits at about 600 meters altitude, in the Cantabrian Mountains. Vines are bush-trained, on a single post to support the vegetation. Planting density is about 5000 vines per hectare, to encourage competition between the plants.
Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Aging and malolactic fermentation in a 1200 litre French oak foudre, and some smaller barrels, for about 16 months (with 3 rackings). Approximately 2000 bottles produced. 14.6% alc./vol.
Ships in a 4-bottle wooden box.
Tasting note: Deep/dark, cherry colour. Complex aromas and flavours of dark/ripe fruits - plum and cherry - with notes of vanilla spice, toffee, and cocoa. Full and powerful, with fine/firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a long elegant/silky finish.
Menu matches: Grilled, roasted and braised meat dishes (beef and lamb), and earthier vegetarian options.
