Celler Kripta (formerly Agustí Torelló Mata)

In the heart of the Penedes, near the town of Sant Sadurni d’Anoia, this historic winery produces a range of high quality Cava, perhaps most notably for Kripta, unique for its extended ageing and handmade amphora shaped bottle.

In early 2024, the family decided to change the name of the winery from Agustí Torelló Mata to Celler Kripta. The winery remains family-owned and managed, and their primary focus is still Cava.  

While there has been a movement in Spain to use the more fashionable higher producing grapes like the chardonnay and pinot noir in the Cava blend, Celler Kripta remains guided by tradition and flavour, using only Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Perellada, and Trepat (for the Cava rosé) grapes, and only producing vintage-dated Cavas. The production of Celler Kripta is very limited due, among other things, to the age of their vines.
