Collection: Holiday Wines

The holiday season gives us opportunities to gather with family and friends, and appreciate more relaxed times together. It's nice to have a selection of wines on hand, whether for entertaining at home, or for impromptu gift-giving. 

Having sparkling wines on hand is a must. They are so versatile as an aperitif, and of course, don't bubbles make people happy? When paired with salty and rich foods, especially appetizers, the effervescence and acidity in sparkling wines provide a cooling, refreshing contrast.

White and rosé wines, that are dry, light-to medium-bodied, with pleasing aromatics and refreshing acidity, pair well with lighter appetizers like sushi, pakoras, creamy and goat cheeses, and most salads. For main courses with more weight, like salmon, turkey, or pork, try fuller-bodied white wines with more complexity.

For red wines, look for medium-bodied, lower-tannin, options when pairing with grilled fish, chicken, or heartier vegetarian-based dishes. Reds with some acidity contrast richer dishes, even those with more flavourful sauces. And when the menu includes grilled or roasted meats, like beef or lamb, fuller-bodied red wines with more tannins come into play.
