Case of 6 bottles.
100% Mencia grapes, grown on vines planted over 1000m.a.s.l.. Vines (bush and trellised) are ~40 years old, and rooted in schist and limestone soil. Climate is mediterranean mountainous, with continental influences. Rainfall: <383mm.
Harvest is by hand. 70% of the grapes are destemmed for semi-carbonic maceration, and the rest left for cold, whole-bunch carbonic maceration. Alcoholic fermentation, with the skins, in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for half a lunar cycle, with daily foot stomping. 70% of the wine is aged 9 months in a combination of Tinajas and glass demijohns and 30% in steel tanks. Bottled unfined and gently filtered. 12.5% alc./vol. ~5300 bottles produced. Certified biodynamic and suitable for vegan diets.
Tasting note: Deep purple core with slight blue hues at the rim. Aromas and flavours of strawberry and cherry with earthy/spicy/floral notes. Dry, medium-bodied, gentle tannins, with minerality and lively acidity.
