La Lecciaia
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018
Case of 6 bottles
Sorry, we just sold out. New shipment on the way.
Made from 100% estate-grown, hand-harvested grapes. Alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks for 15-20 days. Minimum aging requirements for the Consorzio are 2 years in oak barrels and 4 months in bottle, however this wine spent over 3 years in larger Slavonian-oak barrels (not barrique) and 6 months in bottle before release. Alc./vol. 14.0%.
Vintage Rating: 2018 was rated a 4-star vintage (out of 5) by the Consorzio di Brunello (the governing association for the region). “Four stars” is considered “classic”, with prospects for long-lived wines.
Our tasting note: Classic deep cherry colour with slight garnet rim, with earthy aromas and flavours of Bing cherry, plum, black currant, and dark raspberry fruit with cedar, cinnamon, and mocha notes. Richly elegant, this wine is medium to full-bodied, balanced, and with a lovely silky finish. Should be good for another 8 or so years.
Food matches: Pair with earthier-style dishes, including braised (short ribs) and grilled red meats, mushroom-based dishes, and tomato-based meat sauces.
