UIVO Moscatel Galego Blanco 2022

Case of 6 bottles

Made from 100% Moscatel Galego grapes, hand-harvested in early September from +30 year-old vines, grown on hillside slopes (schist and granite derived soils) in small 1.5 Ha vineyard in Alijó.

Gentle pressing (pneumatic press) of whole clusters, then the juice is put into a 5000L stainless steel tank (at a controlled temperature) to begin fermentation using ambient yeasts. The wine is transferred to a cement vat, then aged for 6 months on the fine less, with monthly stirring, before bottling (without fining or filtering) in February 2023. Alc./vol.: 11.5%.. Production  ~6,300 bottles.

Our Tasting note: Pale yellow colour. Lush aromas and flavours of tropical fruits (citrus, tangerine), peach, and lychee, with gentle floral /herbal/minty/ginger notes. Medium-bodied, dry, refreshing acidity (zesty), some minerality and a long finish.

Pairing Suggestions: Serve fresh - a complex wine to pair with delicate fish, shellfish, white meats, creamy pasta, and salads.

FYI - UIVO - pronounced wee-voh - means “howl”, and has many connotations, including a reference frequent wildlife visits in the vineyards, which includes foxes.
