Case of 6 bottles.
Geoff Merrill’s “reserve” range are a selection of his finest barrels from the vintage and given additional maturation in oak prior to bottling.
Made from 100% Chardonnay - 65% coming from vineyards in McLaren Vale and 35% from Coonawara, harvested in March 2016. The vintage had lower yields from previous years, but a longer growing period allowed the fruit to ripen properly resulting in good flavour, concentration, acidity, and structure.
Following traditional white-wine vinification, the selected barrels were aged for 10 months in new French-oak hogsheads, and further aging in bottle before being released. 14.5% alc./vol., RS 2.4 gr./L.. Ageing potential through 2026.
Tasting Note: Bright straw colour with green tinges. Tropical aromas and flavours of mango, citrus, honeydew melon, and stone fruits (nectarine), with notes of nuts, vanilla spice, and green herbs. Dry, with a creamy texture and zesty acidity. A nice long, elegant finish.
Menu matches: Pair with grilled white meats - chicken and pork - tuna, shellfish, and mature cheeses.
