Case of 6 bottles (wooden box)
Made from 93% Tempranillo and 7% Graciano grapes, sourced from vineyards with rocky and clay-limestone soil at altitudes between 530m and 570m abmsl, in Rioja Alta. The Tempranillo is from three estate plots, one planted in the 1920s, with a predominantly Atlantic climate, while the Graciano is from a plot planted in the 1960s, with more Mediterranean-style influences.
The grapes receive a long 28-day temperature-controlled whole-berry maceration (after de-stemming), with regular over pumping in “smart” tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak casks. A selection of the best barrels of the Reserva wine, the wine is aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels (2nd use) for 24 months, with periodic agitation every four months, and briefly in new oak barrels before bottling, unfiltered. The wine remains in bottle for another 15 months before release. Production is limited to 6,600 bottles.
Alcohol: 14.5%/vol. RS: 2.7gr/L.
Tasting note: Intense cherry red core with garnet rim The complex nose is of deep dark fruit aromas – black cherry, plum (prune), and blueberry – with integrated spicy notes of black pepper, dark chocolate, and cloves, cedar, and cinnamon. The wine is balanced, full-bodied, fleshy, with full smooth tannins, and a very long elegant finish.
