Etna Trio

Case of 3 bottles.

Fans of Etna wines, will savour this three-bottle mixed case from Sciare dell' Alba, from a tiny plot of land on the east side of Mount Etna at about 500m above sea level. It is made up of one bottle each of Bianco, Rosato, and Rosso, from their very first vintage.

These wines are also available to purchase by-the-case elsewhere on the TWC Imports Web site. 

Wine #1 Etna Bianco DOC 2019 

The blend is 80% Carricante and 20% Catarratto; vinified in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks for three months (in contact with the fine lees) then in bottle for one month before release. Alc./vol. 12.5%. Only 1000 bottles produced. 

Tasting note: Pale straw gold colour, with tropical aromas and flavours of apricot and peach with floral/herbal/mineral notes. Light- to medium-bodied, good acidity, and a long, clean finish.

Pairing suggestions: Great aperitif wine, and will pair with grilled seafood, shellfish, Sushi, white meats, pasta with creamy sauces, vegetarian dishes, and medium-aged and soft cheeses. 

Wine #2 Etna Rosato DOC 2019

The blend is 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio; vinified in temperature controlled (at low temperatures), stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks for three months (in contact with the fine lees) then in bottle for one month before release. Alc./vol. 13.0%. Only 1600 bottles produced. 

Tasting note: Pale pink colour, with aromas and flavours of fresh berry fruit - raspberry, wild strawberry - with floral/fruity notes. Light- to medium-bodied, good acidity, soft tannins, and a long, clean finish.

Pairing suggestions: A great aperitif wine, it will also pair with appetizers, seafood, spicy vegetarian dishes, and fresh cheeses. 

Wine #3 Etna Rosso DOC 2017

The blend is 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio; vinified in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks, with a maceration of about 12-15 days. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (30Hl) for 24 months (in contact with the fine lees) then in bottle for three months before release. Alc./vol. 13.5%. Only 1500 bottles produced. 

Tasting note: Medium-ruby colour, with aromas and flavours of fresh berry fruit - raspberry, wild strawberry - with notes of aromatic herbs, vanilla spice, and dried flowers. Medium-bodied, good acidity, integrated tannins, and a long, elegant finish.

Pairing suggestions: Lovely on its own, it will pair with grilled meats (beef, lamb), salmon, pasta with meat sauce, earthy vegetarian dishes, and medium-aged cheeses.
