The grapes for this wine come from Merrill’s vineyards in McLaren Vale, in South Australia, one of Australia’s top grape-growing regions. McLaren Vale wines are known for their intense power and flavour.
A blend of 54% Shiraz, 37% Grenache, and 9% Mourvedre. Select parcels of Shiraz and Grenache were blended together for their wonderful spicy, perfumed aromas and vibrant fruit – Mourvedre contributes weight (like the bass notes in music) and structure to the palate.
After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, the wine was aged for 20 months in seasoned American- and French-oak puncheons.
Tasting Note:Dark red colour, with garnet hues. Deep, dark berry fruit aromas – raspberry and black cherry - with earthy-savoury-spicy notes. The wine is well-balanced and nicely structured with fine tannins, good acidity, and well-integrated oak. A full-flavoured wine with a quality finish.Alc./vol. 14.5%; RS 0.5 gr/L
Menu Matches: With richer-flavoured dishes, particularly grilled meat dishes and barbecue, but is also enjoyable on its own.
