Case of 6 bottles
The Uivo Loureiro is the first wine produced by Folias de Baco outside the Douro region. The idea of this wine came from a collaboration since 2017 with a well-known biodymanic producer in the Vinho Verde region, allowing Tiago to explore new facets of the Loureiro variety in its birthplace, the Lima Valley (Vinho Verde).
After a dry winter, 2018 was characterized by lower than average temperatures and rainfall during the entire growing cycle, which substantially increased disease pressure in the vineyards and reduced yields. However, the slow ripening process allowed the production of well-balanced grapes of great aromatic freshness.
Made from, selected Loureiro clusters, from biodymanic vineyards located in the sub-region of Lima (Ponte de Lima) which are at an average altitude of 100 meters, with south-facing exposure and in granite derived soils. The grapes were picked by hand in September, then foot treading in la agar with maceration of about 3 days. No SO2 was added at crush. Tank fermentation, followed by an ageing in cement eggs and used chestnut barrels. 0.10 mg/L SO2added before bottling September 2019 - no fining or filtration. Production - 3050 bottles. 11.0% alc./vol..
