Made from Pinot Grigio grapes (and a small percentage of Chardonnay) sourced from the family-owned "Ai Palazzi" estate vineyards in the Paive region, south of where the Masottina winery is located. Here the terrain is flat and the soil alluvial chalky/clay, which is ideal for the development of the Pinot Grigio vine.
“Dorsoduro” (pronounced dor-so-doo-roe), is one of the six boroughs (sistieri) of Venice, and includes the highest land areas around the city. It is a “fantasy” name given to the wine, and replaces the Pinot Grigio delle Venezia wine that was previously offered by the winery.
Alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, using selected yeasts. The wine is left on the lees (in tanks) for a small amount of time to gain complexity, before filtering and bottling. Ideal serving temperature is 10-12º celsius.
Our Tasting Note: Pale straw colour, with greenish tinges. Aromas and flavours of warm citrus fruits (grapefruit and lime), peach, and yellow apple with notes of minerals and almonds. Crisp and dry, medium-bodied, with balanced acidity and a long elegant finish.
Food pairings: Grilled freshwater fish, Sushi, white meats (pork and chicken), and vegetarian risotto. But it's also perfect as a glass just on its own.
