Case of 12, 375ml bottles.
Made from 100% estate-grown Sangiovese grapes, hand-harvested the last week of September, the first week of October. Alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks for 15-20 days.
Minimum aging requirements for the Consorzio are 2 years in oak barrels and 4 months in bottle, however this wine spent over 3 years in larger oak barrels (not barrique) and 6 months in bottle before release. Alc./vol. 14.5%
Our tasting note:Classic mahogany colour, with complex, earthy aromas and flavours of dark cherry, plum, and raspberry fruit with cedar/sandalwood, tobacco, and mocha notes. Elegant, this wine is medium to full-bodied, and well structured on the evolving palate. Smooth on the finish; the fruit, acidity, and fine tannins are all well balanced.
Menu matches:Pair with earthier-style dishes (including mushrooms), game (venison), steak, short-rib, and meat-based pasta sauces.
