Description

A rarity - made from 100% white Grenache grapes, grown on hillside slopes at an altitude of about 650 metres. Yields are less than 8 kgs./Ha. The vines are young (~10 years old), but they produce a clear representation of the terroir.

Follows a traditional white wine production - the wine is fermented and aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

Alc./vol.: 12.5%.

Tasting Note

Bright, straw yellow colour with green tinges. Aromas and flavours of fresh citrus and pear with slight herbal/floral notes of mint, thyme, and lime zest. Medium-bodied, dry, fresh and crisp, with a good balance between the fruit and the acidity.

About the Grape

Grenache: Grenache -- or Garnacha in Spain where it probably originated -- is the 2nd most planted wine grape in the world (after Airen). Prized for its contribution of colour and backbone in blends, it can be made into a variety of styles from Rosé to fruity-style red wines to full-bodied, tannic red wines. You might be surprised to learn that Grenache was Australia's most planted red wine grape until the mid 1990s when Shiraz took over.

Latido de Sara

These wines are a dream fulfilled for Sara Martinez-Lagos and Leon Florez, who combined have more than 25 years experience in the wine trade. They chose the name Latido de Sara - “Sara’s Heartbeat - in honour of Sara’s father who passed away a few years ago, and who always encouraged her to follow her own path, and to make her own wine.
The Latido de Sara wines are made in the oldest winery in Navarra Province - San Martin de Unx - who also have the best and oldest Garnacha grapes in the area. Many of the vines are planted on gentle hillside slopes (~650 meters in altitude), which are a unique characteristic of the Navarra landscape. Their wines are based mainly on Garnacha (Grenache) grapes, from low-yield vines over 30 years old, while the Crianza also includes Tempranillo. They use a small amount of local Navarra-oak barrels in the Crianza, to support the region and the landscape.
The overall philosophy of the range - white, rosé, and red - is to produce intensely flavoured and complex wines which faithfully reflect the nature and terroir of Navarra Province.
