Best friends John Dawson (formerly of Table 17) and Todd Vestby opened F’Amelia in September of 2011. Within months this friendly neighborhood gem was named one of Toronto Life's "Top Ten New Restaurants" and made the Globe and Mail's "Top Ten Restaurants of 2011"

Executive Chef, Maurizio Verga was born in Bergamo Italy. His passion for food began when he was12 ,spending time at his Grandmother's specialty food shop, "Alimantari Pagnoncelli". He attended the San Pellegrino Culinary Institute and gained experience as an apprentice at L'Antico Albergo al Ponte di Briolo, one of the best fine-dining restaurants in Bergamo. Upon graduating in 2002, Maurizio moved to London where he mastered the nuances of traditional British fine dining at Durrant's Hotel, high-end Italian cuisine at Shumi, and Japanese-Peruvian fusion at Nobu. In 2007, Maurizio accepted a position at Splendido and worked his way through the ranks to become Sous Chef under Chef Victor Barry. Now at F'Amelia, Maurizio's unique blend of traditional training and international experience brings authentic, Northern Italian food to Toronto.

The dining room’s showpiece is the wood-burning pizza oven imported from Naples. It is equipped with a stone bottom and cooks each pizza in 90 seconds. The pizza dough is handmade, in house, and is matured for 72 hours. DOP ingredients are used for the primary ingredients.

In addition to the excellent pizza, there's pasta -- including inspired vegetarian options -- as well as housemade charcuterie. And save room for dolci!

There's a private cellar dining room for up to 20 diners and a great patio facing on quite Amelia Street.

The hand-selected wine list mines the portfolios of some of Toronto's more inspired wine Agents to complement Chef Maurizio's menus. There are about 20 wine selections by the glass, and there are many great value offerings throughout the list.
