Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse
Toronto, King West
12 Brant Street

Jacobs & Co Steakhouse offers a refreshed approach to the classic steak house., in one the best designed spaces in the city. The design is modern, and the room looks airy at first, but the overall feeling is intimate.

The menu offers market-fresh, source-specific products. The steaks are dry-aged, in a glassed in climate-controlled room that is a feature of the dining room. The various cuts are butchered in house and seasoned accordingly. The servers are amongst the most knowledgeable in the city and will explain all aspects of the ageing process and preparation.

The menu includes USDA Prime Black Angus from Kansas, Canadian Prime Hereford from Lindsay, Ontario or High River Alberta, as well as the exotic A5Jo Black Tajima-Miyazaki, all charbroiled (to order) at 1800 degrees. There are options for non-steak eaters, included a number of seafood dishes. A cheese selection is also available.

Sommelier Robert Gravelle curates an outstanding wine list, offering a full range of classic and interesting wines, including verticals of top producers. The selections are internationally-focussed, and feature a number of organic and biodynamic selections. There are many offerrings by the glass, and Robert is happy to recommend a wine for each course. Tasting menus are also available, as well as special events featuring winemaker visits.

There aren't many piano bars left in Toronto, and the Piano Bar at Jacobs & Co is not to be missed.
