Case of 3 bottles (in a wooden boxe).

Made from a careful selection of 100% Godello grapes, from a single 0,2 Ha plot (“peza”), that was planted in 1941 by Manuel Gayoso Díaz, from cuttings from the original Pedrouzos vineyard. Mr Gayoso Díaz was a Theology Professor at Las Ermitas Seminary at the time, and wine made from this peza was used in the Eucharist ceremony for 10 years.

The vines grow on hillside slopes, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level, with a gradient of 46.5%. The soils are derived from granite; the only wine made by Valdesil that is not planted in slate.

Following short skin contact, the wine is fermented (with natural yeasts) in a two-year old, 500-litre, French-oak barrel (Allier). The wine ages for 6 months in the same barrel (on the lees, with regular stirring) then racked into stainless steel tanks for a further 12 months prior to bottling. No malolactic fermentation, and fined with agents of mineral origin. Alc./vol. 14%; R.S. 3,4 gr/L.

Tasting note:  Bright yellow/gold colour; complex aromas and flavours of citrus, apple and, pear, with floral/mineral-tinged notes of toasted nuts, vanilla spice, and mint. Dry and full, with balancing acidity and a long, rich, creamy, evolving finish.

Pairing: Rich seafood (lobster), river fish, grilled white meats (chicken and pork), including those with creamy sauces, and earthy vegetarian dishes (mushrooms).
