Latido de Sara
La Furgoneta que miraba al Órbigo Orange 2022
Case of 6 bottles
New wine - very limited.
A Furgoneta is a van, and Sara and León found one abandoned on the family vineyards they were restoring. The name of the wine literally means "the van overlooking the River Órbigo", a river of some significance in the area of the vineyards.
The wine is made from 45% Palomino, 45% Doña Blanco, 5% Godello, and 5% “other” grapes; hand-harvested in small boxes from vines grown in two of the oldest plots - Santibañez de Valeiglesias and Estebanaz de la Calzada, planted between 1890 and 1915 - at an altitude of 820-920 metres, with predominantly sandy loam soil. The climate is very dry from Spring to Autumn.
Grapes are co-fermented with their skins in a 350L amphorae, at low temperature, for 30 days. The wine is then aged for six months in previously used French oak barrels. 12.5% alc./vol..
Very limited production: only 298 bottles were produced, and 30 came to Canada.
Our Tasting note: Bright copper/gold colour, with orange hues. Complex aromas and flavours of quince paste, baked apple and pear compote, with slight nutty/oxidative notes. Medium-bodied, bright acidity, with present tannins due to the contact with the skins. Lingering and pleasant finish.
Menu matches: Gastronomic wine that will pair with rice dishes, grilled seafood, grilled poultry, aged cheeses, and earthier vegetarian options.
